Have you ever wanted to try out the pottery wheel?
Here’s your chance to get your hands dirty!
-
Participants will receive 1 lb of clay to create a shape of their choice, such as a cup, bowl, or vase. Under the guidance of our instructor, you’ll learn the basics of wheel throwing and have the chance to shape your own unique piece. Afterward, you’ll select a glaze color to personalize it.
A glaze is a special coating applied to pottery that, once fired, gives it a beautiful, glass-like finish and adds durability. Your piece will first go through a bisque firing at Cone 05 (approximately 1,888°F) to harden. Then, our studio potter will apply your chosen glaze and fire it again at Cone 5/6 (approximately 2,167°F to 2,232°F). This process results in a vibrant, finished piece ready for use or display!
-
If booking two wheel-throwing experiences, please schedule two appointments separated by 30-minutes. Each participant will work one-on-one with the instructor while the other can relax in the studio—perfect for cheering, snapping photos, or prepping for their turn. For groups larger than two, contact Shishir Chokshi at 706-294-3871 by call or text to plan a customized session for your group or special event!
-
After the bisque and glaze firings, your piece will be ready in about 3-4 weeks. We’ll notify you when it’s ready for pickup, so you can bring home your handcrafted creation!
